New Munson leaders host first staff Lunch and Learn
FORT LEAVENWORTH, Kansas — Munson Army Health Center’s new command team hosted its first staff Lunch and Learn Sept. 17 in the health center’s first-floor break room.
Col. Tiffany R. Bilderback, Munson director, and Sgt. Maj. Devon S. Woodard, senior enlisted adviser, used the inaugural session as an opportunity to get to know members of the workforce and hear directly from employees.
Approximately 20 Soldiers and civilian employees filtered in and out during the session. Conversations covered a range of topics, including communication, training and staffing. The command team met longtime employees who have served at Munson for more than 15 years, as well as newer teammates who bring different experiences and fresh perspectives to the organization.
“Taking time to listen to our teammates helps us better understand what is working, where challenges exist and how we can support them,” Bilderback said. “Every member of the Munson team contributes to our mission, and their perspectives are important as we move forward together.”
The Lunch and Learn format is designed to accommodate the different lunch schedules of Munson sections. Employees may stop by as their schedules permit to ask questions, share information or simply listen and are not expected to remain for the entire session.
Based on feedback from the first event, leadership will extend future Lunch and Learn sessions from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to provide maximum availability for employees across the organization.
One outcome from the September discussion is the addition of a “Myth Buster” link under the new Command Team tab on the Munson workforce SharePoint page. The resource will give employees a way to submit questions and seek clarification about information or rumors circulating within the organization.
Bilderback intends to continue hosting Lunch and Learn sessions each month, with topics reflecting issues relevant to the Munson workforce. Employees are also encouraged to suggest subjects for future discussions.
Because staff training is scheduled for the afternoon of the regularly planned October session, October’s Lunch and Learn will move to Thursday, Oct. 29, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the first-floor break room.
The command team will continue meeting employees throughout the organization and plans to visit Munson personnel working at the Military Corrections Complex.
